GD880 frequency converter empowers Ansteel PQF continuous rolling mill upgrade, achieving efficient production

PQF (Premium Quality Finishing) is a high-quality seamless steel pipe rolling mill for finished pipes. It is currently the most advanced limited core rod rolling mill in the world. It uses a three roll stand, overcomes the shortcomings of traditional two roll stands, and has better hole closure, representing the highest level of hot-rolled pipe production today.

The continuous rolling mill with a diameter of 177PQF at Ansteel Seamless Plant was put into operation in 2007, with an annual production capacity of 200000 tons and product specifications of 73-180mm * 5-16mm.

The unit originally used an international brand of feedback rectification and high-power inverter for transmission. The rolling mill consists of five sets of transmissions, including 15 rolling mills, 4 limit motors, 4 tube release motors, and 3 VRS motors. This test machine replaces the # 2 group with the highest rolling load and three 600kW motors. The original inverter specification is 11K7, with a heavy-duty power of 1060kW and 1100A; Controlled by PLC through Profibus DP.

Due to the upgrading and renovation of the 177 production line, the requirements for the continuous rolling mill have been further increased. It is required to be able to roll special steel with thinner wall thickness and harder material, and to pass the steel quickly. The original transmission cannot meet the technical requirements, and due to its long service life, it faces difficulties in supplying spare parts. Therefore, Ansteel has decided to replace the original equipment with the following requirements:

Profibus Dp bus communication control can be used, seamlessly replacing the original transmission, and customers do not need to change the program
Meet the requirements of PQF continuous rolling mill for dynamic speed drop of steel rolling, including speed accuracy, speed fluctuation, torque accuracy, torque response, etc
The PG free vector control of the transmission must meet the technical requirements of steel rolling and ensure the continuity of production

Based on the comprehensive product performance, on-site solution, on-site service, and price, Ansteel ultimately chose to use the Yingweiteng GD880 multi drive frequency converter to seamlessly replace the original product.

Considering the first use of domestically produced equipment, Yingweiteng has expanded the selection of heavy loads for Ansteel to 1500kW, with models GD880-56-2052-6 and three GD880-51-0720-6 power units in parallel.
