Advantech Joins Hands with Hailo to Expand High Computing Edge AI Product Portfolio

In 2023, AIoT platform and service provider Advantech announced the establishment of a new strategic partnership with AI chip pioneer Hailo to jointly expand the high computing edge AI product portfolio. Through this collaboration, Advantech will utilize Hailo’s AI acceleration chip to develop high-performance and cost-effective edge AI systems and AI acceleration modules to meet the compact and powerful edge AI application requirements of factory AOI defect detection, warehouse AMR object detection, and public parking lot management.

The use cases of edge artificial intelligence are diverse, therefore requiring diversity in AI computing power, power consumption, and industrial design. Power sensitivity is an important consideration when integrating edge devices into robots or autonomous devices, as lower power consumption can extend battery life and operating time. Hailo’s product portfolio includes the Hailo-8 AI acceleration module, which seamlessly integrates with edge platforms to achieve real-time deep learning inference tasks of 26 TOPS at the edge with a low power consumption of 2.5W, small size, and low cost.

It is reported that Advantech will launch a series of edge AI systems equipped with Hailo-8 M.2 AI acceleration modules in the fourth quarter, including EPC-R3720, ARK-1250, ARK-3533, and EI-53. Advantech’s Edge AI software is a toolkit that assists customers in evaluating, developing, and deploying various edge AI applications. It will integrate Hailo’s AI SDK TAPPAS, which has been validated on Advantech’s hardware model.
