No matter which kind of control unit, the principle is to control each part of the CPU through the control signal sent by the control unit. Control units can be broadly divided into the following two categories.
Microprogram, which reads and sends control signals by microprogram. Microprograms are executed through simple digital channels (microcomputers) called microsequencers. [1]
Hardware type control unit. The control signal is sent directly by the digital channel. Due to the scale of integrated circuits and the progress of design technology, this kind of control unit has become possible. According to the user’s preprogrammed program, it takes out each instruction from the memory in turn, puts it in the instruction register IR, determines what operation should be carried out through instruction decoding (analysis), and then sends out the microoperation control signal to the corresponding component through the operation controller OC, according to the determined time sequence. Operation controller OC mainly includes beat pulse generator, control matrix, clock pulse generator, reset circuit and power off circuit control logic.
