OverviewThe Commander C300 universal process controller was launched in 1991. It enabled control of a single PID loop using a number of control strategies (for example, single loop, heat / cool and motorized valve). The C300 was available with a comprehensive I/O capability, custom linearizers and ramp / soak profiling capability.

In December 1998, the C300 was superseded by the C350 universal process controller, which in turn was superseded by the ControlMaster CM30 universal process controller. The CM30 uses ABB’s common instrumentation platform HMI and features a new, full color TFT display enabling both control loops in the new dual control template to be displayed simultaneously in a single operator view. The CM30 also features ethernet communications, profile control and bank control functionality as well as the features previously available on the C300. All features are accessible via the front panel of the controller without the need for PC configuration software.

Highly scalable in both hardware and software functionality, a CM30 can be specified easily to meet the needs of virtually any process control application – simple or advanced. Powerful control functions such as adaptive control, math, logic and totalization provide problem-solving flexibility and make the CM30 suitable for a wide range of process applications.

Fully configurable via the easy-to-navigate front panel menus or ConfigPilot configuration software, the CM30 can be commissioned rapidly and then tuned via the advanced autotune capability.

Easy integration into a control system with MODBUS® and Ethernet communication options.
