IS230TCATH1A is a Mark VIe series core analog (TCAT) terminal board assembly module developed by GE. The additional I/O terminals of the PCAA module are provided by the Core Analog (TCAT) terminal board. It manages the signals propagated to one to three PCAA modules. There are twelve seismic inputs, twelve LVDT inputs, twenty-four 4-20 mA inputs, and two magnetic pulse rate inputs. All 24 4-20 mA inputs have their own 24 V DC power supply, half located on the TCAT and the other half on adjacent JGPA boards.

The TCAT output consists of three voting signals within the range of 4 to 20 mA. 120 pluggable European style box terminals provide on-site wiring terminal points. A group of 48 terminals, a group of 24 terminals, and a second group of 48 terminals form a terminal group.

The 12 additional 24V DC outputs and shielded wire terminals for 4-20 mA devices are provided by the JGPA board near the TCAT field terminals. TCAT connectors P3 or P4 provide power to JGPA, which is a diode or power source from the connected PCAA module.

  Installation of IS230TCATH1A

TCAT is installed on a metal rear base with an insulated plastic carrier underneath. There are screws at the top and bottom of the field terminals, and a third screw in the middle of the board.

The TCAT terminal board has 120 pluggable European style box terminals. The JGPA board is installed next to the TCAT terminal board, using European style box terminals to provide 48 shielded terminal points and 12 24V DC output terminals for the equipment. The 4-20 mA transmitter is installed next to the TCAT terminal board.

TCAT allows the transmission of input signals to one or more PCAA modules. To ensure the reliability of redundant applications, this is achieved through highly reliable passive circuits. TCAT receives a 28 V DC power supply from the PCAA module connected to it. The power supply or diode provides redundant power input for 24 V DC output. TCAT is equipped with an independent voltage regulator for each 24 V output and has a thermal shutdown function to ensure the safety of the branch circuit.

Analog input – TCAT can communicate with various 4-20 mA transmitters. Each input contains a jumper next to the terminal to determine whether the return terminal is grounded or floating. The default state of the jumper is floating or open. TCAT+JGPA provides 24 24 V DC terminals, one for each 4-20 mA transmitter input.
