IS200SSCAH2AGD is a serial communication I/O terminal board manufactured and designed by General Electric, belonging to the Mark VI series. The Simplex Serial Communication Input/Output (SSCA) terminal board is a small serial communication board with up to six communication channels. Each channel can be set to send RS-232C, RS-485, or RS-422 signals. PSCA I/O package is compatible with SSCA. The I/O package is connected to the controller through Ethernet and plugged into a DC-37-pin connector.IS200SAMBH1ABA

IS200SSCAH2AGD installation

The metal plate carrier and plastic insulator bracket are used to install the SSCA board on the DIN rail. This component is also designed to be directly bolted into the cabinet.

SSCAH2 has a 48 terminal right angle connector that can accept various commercial pluggable wiring terminals.

SSCA typically uses # 18 AWG (shielded twisted pair) cabling. The external mounting bracket for the I/O cable shielding layer is provided by the customer or GE. E1 and E2 are used as mounting holes for chassis grounding connections. The shielding grounding must be connected to one of the SCOM terminals (37-48).

IS200SSCAH2AGD OperationIS200SAMBH1ABA(1)

Each of the six serial communication channels has six connection points on the SSCA terminal board. Four signal lines AD, one signal return, and one shielded common end between points (SCOM).

The RET terminal is used for RS-232C return. The signals of all six serial communication channels are arranged in the same order. From the box terminals, the signal sequence is SCOM, A, B, C, D, Ret, from left to right. The six signal groups of the serial channel are assigned to adjacent terminals.

When viewing the group of terminals at the bottom, the channels from left to right are five, four, and one. From left to right, channels six, three, and two are located on the top group of terminals.IS200SAMBH1ABA(2)

About the GE Fanuc 90-30 series

The GE Fanuc 90-30 series is GE’s programmable logic controller (PLC).

These controllers are designed for entry-level use in large and complex applications as they can accommodate a minimum of thirty-two (32) I/Os and a maximum of 4096 I/O capacities.

The 90-30 series supports multiple communication protocols, such as Genius Bus, World FIP, Profibus DP, Interbus S, LonWorks, DeviceNet, Ethernet, or SDS protocols.

These protocols allow any controller to handle communication between visualization systems, such as human-machine interfaces (HMI), monitoring and data acquisition (SCADA), distributed control systems (DCS), and third-party software applications.

The implementation or remote I/O system also uses the same communication protocol, enabling the 90-30 PLC series to maximize I/O capacity and achieve the required automation through process implementation.

The GE Fanuc 90-30 series is a modular, multifunctional, and scalable PLC platform.

The controller is divided into entry-level standard models, mid-range standard models, and high-performance models.

When using RS-422 or RS-485, a terminal resistor must be provided at either end of the transmission line.

For each pair of signal lines, SSCA provides optional terminal resistors. JP1A and JP1B switch terminal resistors between signals AB and CD.

Perform the same function for each serial communication channel.

By default, the jumper is set to disconnect the terminal resistor. The relationship between terminating jumpers and serial communication channel signals is clearly marked on SSCA.

The PSCA I/O package interrogates the JA connector on the wiring board, which has its own ID device.

The ID device is a read-only chip that contains the serial number, board type, version number, and J connector location of the terminal board. When the I/O processor reads this chip and finds a mismatch, a hardware incompatibility fault will occur.

to configure

Jumpers are used to configure terminal boards. Please refer to the operation section for the location of these jumpers. The available jumpers are as follows:

For the six serial communication channels, jumpers JP1A to JP6A apply or remove terminal resistors between signal lines A and B.

For the six serial communication channels, jumpers JP1B to JP6B apply or remove terminal resistors between signal lines C and D.

Jumpers JP1R to JP6R determine whether to return the resistor or capacitor to SCOM.

features

A single cable connector with 37 (female) connections occupies one long side of the circuit board. On the right side of this component is a single integrated circuit (U1) on the board. This is a read-only memory chip. The board has a 48 position wiring terminal on the opposite edge.

On both sides of the junction box, two drilled holes are placed, surrounded by conductive materials. They are used as terminal connectors. Two additional (larger) circular cuts are located on the short edge of the board. These are aimed at making the installation of circuit boards easier.
