IS220PPRFH1B is a PROFIBUS main gateway I/O module developed by GE under the Mark VIe series. It is a PROFIBUS DPV0, Class 1 master station can map Mark VIe controllers on the I/O Ethernet to I/O from PROFIBUS slave devices. This module includes a processor board shared by all Mark VIe distributed I/O modules and an acquisition carrier board equipped with a COM-C PROFIBUS communication module provided by Hilscher GmbH.
The gas turbine control model IS220PPRFH1B for the General Electric Speedtronic Fanuc Mark VIe series PROFIBUS DPM main gateway I/O module. This device is usually paired with the accessory ID terminal board IS200SPIDG1A. This allows the PPRF device to be connected and installed in normal or non hazardous locations.
The rated power range of this device is 27.4-28.6 V dc.
IS220PPRFH1B function
The COM-C module provides a PROFIBUS RS-485 interface through the DE-9 D-sub socket connector. It serves as a PROFIBUS DP master station, supporting up to 125 slave stations, each with 244 bytes of input and output, and a transmission rate range of 9.6 KBaud to 12 MBaud.
PPRF supports the following redundancy options:
Single I/O Ethernet connection for a single I/O package (no redundancy)
Single I/O package with two Ethernet connections for I/O
Hot standby Ethernet connection with two ports
Other IO packets share a dual I/O Ethernet connection design. However, in the hot backup system, two PPRFs are used, one of which is an active device connected to the slave device through PROFIBUS, and the other is a passive device in standby mode, ready to take over in the event of a failure of the active master device.
Compatibility
PPRF is installed on the PROFIBUS main gateway terminal board (SPIDG1A), which also provides an electronic ID. Due to the PROFIBUS connection being connected to the exposed DE-9 D-sub socket connector on the side of the PPRF, the interface with the PPRF is its only connection. The indicator LED on PPRF provides visual diagnosis. The number of I/O packets used in the signal path is called the control mode:
Simplex uses one I/O packet and one or two network connections.
Two I/O packets each have two network connections for hot backup.
IS220PPRFH1B operation
Processor
Connect the I/O package or module function specific acquisition board to the processor board. When the input power is turned on, the soft start circuit will increase the available voltage on the processor board. The processor is reset and turned off, and the local power is turned on in order. After completing the self-test program, the processor loads application code from flash memory specific to the I/O package or module type. To verify whether the application code, acquisition board, and terminal board are correctly matched, the application code will read the board ID information.
PROFIBUS gateway hardware
The PROFIBUS DP (Distributed Peripheral Device) function is implemented by the firmware in the COM-C module of PPRF, which is based on Siemens ASPC2 technology. Although the COM-C module has DPV1 functionality, PPRF only provides basic DPV0 functionality, including configuring slave devices, periodically exchanging I/O data with them, and receiving PROFIBUS diagnostics.
Data flow between PPRF and controller
Fixed I/O and PROFIBUS I/O are two types of data streams between PPRF and the controller. The fixed few inputs and outputs include inputs and outputs shared by all I/O packages, including L3DIAG and IOPackTmpr, but without application driven outputs. The PPRF firmware includes a predefined set of fixed I/O. Based on the hardware configuration provided by the application, PROFIBUS I/O is defined as the data exchanged between PROFIBUS slave devices.
