  Product Description

The IS420UCSBH3A controller is another version of the UCSB controller from the Mark VIe Series produced by General Electric. This controller is described as a Mark VIe or MarkStat Controller in the GEH-6725 Mark VIe and Mark VIeS Controls Equipment HazLoc Instruction Guide. This device is equipped with a 1200 MHz EP80579 Intel Microprocessor. This controller is very similar to the UCSC controller in the Mark VIe Series, and while the two controllers have different hardware forms the software forms on the two controllers are nearly identical. Some of the advantages to a controller such as this are the lack of battery and fan as well as the lack of required jumper settings.IS420UCSBH3A is a UCSB Controller Module developed by GE under the Mark VIe series. The Stand-alone computers, UCSB controllers run application-specific control system logic. The UCSB controller does not host any application I/O, in contrast to conventional controllers where it is on a backplane. Each controller is also connected to all I/O networks, providing them with access to all input data. No single point of application input will be lost if a controller is powered down for maintenance or repair thanks to the hardware and software architecture.

  IS420UCSBH3A Mounting and Installation

A single module that mounts directly to the panel sheet metal houses the UCSB controller. The UCSB controller must be mounted to the panel in the manner depicted, with the fins’ vertical airflow unhindered.

Operation

Software tailored to the controller’s use is preloaded on it. It can move blocks or rungs. Online changes to the control software are possible without restarting the system. The R, S, and T IONets are used to synchronize the clocks of the I/O packs and controllers to within 100 microseconds using the IEEE 1588 protocol. Over the R, S, and T IONets, external data is sent to and received from the controller’s control system database. Process inputs and outputs to the I/O modules are included here.

  IS420UCSBH3A UCSB Controller Advantages

The following benefits are provided by the UCSB controllers:

Single module

Internal power source

No jumper settings are necessary

No battery

No fan with UCSBH4A, UCSBH1A, and UCSBS1A

Fans with dual redundancies and UCSBH3A

More compact panel footprint

Flash memory may be updated easily

  IS420UCSBH3A Features

Through on-board I/O network (IONet) interfaces, the UCSB controller, which is mounted in a panel, communicates with the I/O packs. Mark controls I/O modules and controllers are the only devices supported by IONet, a private special-purpose Ethernet.

It is a single module that interfaces with external I/O packs through on-board I/O network connectors. Backplane connectors on one side of the controller were used in past generations of Speedtronic control systems to create these types of interfaces.

This module is powered by a quad-core CPU with pre-installed application software. The processor, which runs on the QNX Neutrino operating system, is built to provide real-time, high-speed, and dependable operations.

This is an Intel EP80579 microprocessor and it has 256 MB of SDRAM memory and operates at 1200 MHz. Before the shipping materials are added.

The component has multiple LEDs on its front panel for troubleshooting purposes. The port Link and Act LEDs indicate whether a genuine Ethernet link has been established and whether traffic is low.

There’s also a Power LED, a Boot LED, an Online LED, a Flash LED, a DC LED, and a Diagnostic LED. There are also On and OT LEDs to consider. If there is an over-temperature condition, the OT LED will illuminate. Typically, the controller is mounted to the panel sheet metal.

The UCSBH3 quad core Mark VIe controller is developed for industrial applications that require high speed and great dependability. It contains plenty of software tailored to its use. The real-time, multi-tasking controller operating system (OS) is QNX Neutrino.

The IS420UCSBH3A controller has a variety of LEDs on the front plate, some of which are:

OT which displays amber when the internal components have surpassed the recommended limit

ON which indicates the status of the restoration process

DC which displays a solid green LED when the controller has been chosen as the designed controller

ONL which will be solid green when the controller is online and running the application code

All of the above-listed LEDs are used to indicate the controllers status, information on these LEDs can be found in the GEH-6855 Volume I Mark VIeS Functional Safety Systems System Guide in chapter eight and specifically on page one hundred fifty-nine and one hundred sixty.

This controller also has specific location certifications and standards needed to operate reliably. When mounted in Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, or D, the IS420UCSBH3A controller requires ANSI/ISA-12.12.01-2015 or CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 213-15 standards. For more information on the different location standards refer to the GEH-6725 HazLoc Instruction Guide.
