S800 I/O is a comprehensive, distributed and modular process I/O system that communicates with parent controllers and PLCs over industry-standard field buses. The TB840 ModuleBus Modem is a fiber optic interface to the Optical ModuleBus. TB840A is used in redundancy configurations where each module is connected to different optical ModuleBus lines, but connected to the same electrical ModuleBus.
The ModuleBus Modem has an electrical and an optical Modulebus interface which are logically the same bus. A maximum of 12 I/O modules can be connected to the electrical ModuleBus and up to seven clusters can be connected to the fiber optic ModuleBus. The fiber optic interface is intended for local distribution of I/O clusters and where more than 12 I/O modules are required in an I/O station.

Torsion pressures are applied to connection components along any axis, as well as static tension forces caused by cable weight and cable dressing.

MountingThe switch enclosure can be DIN-rail mounted or panel mounted (switch mounts to back wall of panel with bracket). The DIN-rail mounting system complies with vibration and shock requirements. Both mounting types allow for easy access to user connections.
OperationA level 1 Ethernet switch’s performance is mostly determined by its ability to buffer packets. When a level 1 switch receives a continuous stream of broadcast or multicast packets, it must send those packets out after they have been fully received. A single incoming stream should take up enough memory to buffer one packet, or at the very least one packet per port.
Switch ReplacementWhen the ESWA or ESWB is used to replace an unmanaged switch, the existing mounting brackets, which can be panel or DIN rail mounts, are used. INSUM integration into AC 800M supports higher functionalityintegration, multidrop configurations, time distribution and timestamping in the switchgear, and utilizes standard Ethernettechnology for longer communication distances. The speed of thissolution is typically 500 ms for one closed loop (indication from onemotor until operation of another, assuming 250 ms cycle time incontrol execution).
AC 800M controllers access the INSUM functions through functionblocks in the INSUM Communication Library. The CI857 is powered
by the processor unit, via the CEX-Bus, and therefore does notrequire any additional external power source.
