The leading series of high availability and high integrity systems (Tricon, Tricon CX, Trident, and Tri-GP) have been certified by the German Rhine T Å V Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3) and can be used for all safety and critical control applications. The EcoStruxure Triconex security system has been proven in the most demanding industries and challenging applications, providing lifetime performance. The Triconex product series includes a comprehensive range of modules. This section includes: system components and their uses, a table listing standard products and their models, and a summary of the specifications for each standard product in the Tricon family. Please refer to the Tricon Planning and Installation Guide for complete information. Tricon Overview Components Housing • Mainframe – Main processor in the house, memory backup battery, communication module, and I/O module Expansion chassis – Additional I/O modules up to 100 feet (30 meters) away from the main chassis. Support for operating up to 1000 feet (300 meters) in restricted applications RXM chassis – used for I/O modules up to 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) away from the main chassis Mechanical keying – Tricon in each slot corresponds to a specific type of module for mechanical keying. This can prevent improper installation of the module into the slot. For chassis installation and housing specifications, see page 25 Power module • Provides logical power to the module, including the main, expansion, or RXM enclosure. Available in 24 VDC, 115 VAC, and 230 VAC versions. The rated power of each power supply is 175 watts at 140 ° F (60 ° C).
The main processor executes system diagnostics and user written control programs. Communication Module • Tricon Communication Module (Traditional Chinese Medicine) supports some Triconex protocols and application programs, as well as user written application Ethernet (802.3) networks, including TriStation, Modbus TCP, and OPC. It also supports RS-232 and RS-485 serial communication with Modbus devices, TriStation 1131, and GPS time synchronization Enhanced Intelligent Communication Module (EICM) supports RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 serial communication Modbus devices and TriStation 1131. • The Network Communication Module (NCM) trumpet supports some Triconex protocols and applications, as well as user written application Ethernet (802.3) networks, including TriStation 1131 The Security Manager Module (SMM) acts as an interface controller between Tricon and the Honeywell Universal Control Network (UCN), one of the three main networks of the TDC-3000 distributed control system The Highway Interface Module (HIM) acts as an interface controller between Tricon and Honeywell TDC-3000 Highway Gateway and Local Control Network (LCN) The Advanced Communication Module (ACM) allows Tricon controllers to interface with Foxboro Industrial Automation (I/A) series DCS and three station 1131. The Fiber Optic Remote Control Expansion Module (RXM) is used to expand the chassis to operate up to 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) of the main box, and has special anti-static and electromagnetic interference capabilities. Interface module • The HART analog input interface module serves as the interface between the 4-20 mA analog input points from the HART smart device on site and the HART host software running on a personal computer The HART analog output interface module serves as the interface between the 4-20 mA analog output point from the HART smart device on site and the HART host software running on a personal computer. The input output module • digital input module receives these nominal discrete signal voltages: 115 VAC/VDC, 48 VAC/VDC, and 24 VAC/VDC. All TMRs provide voltage modules. Non TMR modules are the only ones that provide 24 VDC and 48 VDC. Speed input and accumulation modules are also available Monitor the discrete output signals generated by the digital output module for these nominal voltages, with on-site diagnostic coverage circuits and load devices: 115 VAC, 120 VDC, 48 VDC, and 24 VDC The digital output module produces these discrete output signals with a nominal voltage of 115 VAC, 120
