The VMIVME-7588 model itself is an enhanced VMEbus CPU based on a Pentium processor, capable of handling 133 and 166 MHz of energy. This model of processor integrates an external L2 cache. This cache is designed with 512 KB of SRAM memory synchronization burst. There is also up to 256 megabytes of DRAM memory, compatible with 72 pin SIMM, with or without parity. The 64 bit peripheral component interconnect (PCI) is connected to the super Video Graphics Array controller, and has up to 2 megabytes of video format DRAM memory.
VMIVME-7588 is also integrated into a series of onboard, advanced, and enhanced IDE hard drive and floppy drive controller modules. There is also an integrated set of two high-performance serial ports that are compatible with the 16550 connector interface.
Like all these modules in the VMIC series, the front panel is embedded with PS/2 style keyboard and mouse ports.
