  Product Description

This unit is designated as the VMIVME-7686 module of the VMIC device. The entire series was initially developed and manufactured by General Electric’s industrial automation department, but after it was no longer produced by GE, these modules were subsequently acquired and produced by Abaco Systems.

The VMIVME-7686 module is a VMEbus CPU module based on the Pentium Pro processor in the VMIC series, capable of processing up to 100 megabits of Ethernet at speeds of up to 180 or 200 MHz. The internal L2 cache size of the Pentium Pro processor can accommodate 256 to 512 KB of memory.

The VMIVME-7686 module is also equipped with fast/wide Ethernet, SCSI, and USB interface ports. There is also a parallel port, keyboard port, mouse connection port, and super video graphics array port.

The VMIVME-7686 module is equipped with a PMC mezzanine extension station (5V IEEE-P1386 universal mezzanine card standard), VMEbus interrupt handler, interrupter, and system controller module, and includes byte switching hardware data interfaces suitable for both small and large ends.

The standard VMIC features include 10BaseT, 10Base2, and 100BaseTX Ethernet interface options, PCI fast/wide SCSI-2 controllers with front panel interfaces, onboard enhanced IDE hard drive and floppy drive controllers, a pair of high-performance 16550 compatible serial interface ports, and support for ECP/EPP mode enhanced parallel ports. There are PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports on the front panel, including a real-time clock and miniature speakers, and a universal serial bus (USB) on the front panel.

V7479 is a multifunctional high-capacity storage module that can flexibly provide combinations of DVD/CD-R/W drives with SATA hard drives or solid-state drives. This board is designed specifically for use with Abaco Systems’ VME Single Board Computer (SBC) to increase I/O and storage capabilities.

V7479 uses two SATA input channels to communicate with the host processor board. The optical drive provides users with maximum versatility, allowing read and write access.

The dual serial ATA channel routes the signal from the onboard storage device to the VME P2 connector, where the ACC-0650 rear conversion module connects the signal to the host SBC.

V7479 is compatible with V7865, V7768, V7769, V7812, and V7875 SBC.

V7479 comes with two ACC-0650 rear conversion modules and two SATA cables

Single slot VME storage card with SATA optical drive and hard drive or solid-state drive

Optical storage is DVD-R/W or CD-R/W

Rotating hard drive up to 200 GB

Solid state drives up to 64 GB

VMEbus CPU module is a computer processor module based on the VME (VersaModule Europa) bus. VME bus is an open computer bus standard used for industrial control, embedded systems, and military applications. VMEbus CPU modules typically integrate high-performance processors, memory, I/O interfaces, and other critical components to provide powerful computing and control capabilities.

The main features of these modules include:

High performance: VMEbus CPU modules typically use high-performance processors, such as Intel’s Pentium or Core series processors, to provide powerful computing power.

Scalability: Due to the modular design of the VME bus, the VMEbus CPU module can easily expand memory, I/O interfaces, and other functional modules to meet the needs of different applications.

Reliability: The VMEbus CPU module adopts high-quality components and strict manufacturing processes to ensure its stability and reliability in various harsh environments.

Widely applicable fields: VMEbus CPU modules are widely used in industrial control, aerospace, military, and scientific research fields, for real-time data processing, control, communication, and image processing tasks.

Specifically, some common VMEbus CPU modules include:

XVME-653: This is a powerful VMEbus PC compatible processor module that integrates 233MHz MMX Pentium CPU and PCI-to-VMEbus interface. It can be applied to data collection and monitoring control as well as process control in fields such as power, metallurgy, petroleum, and chemical engineering.

VMIVME-1101: This is an Intel mobile processor module designed using the Intel NetBurst microarchitecture. It is packaged in a 478 pin, Micro Flip Chip Pin Grid Array (Micro FCPGA) package and can be inserted into surface mount, zero insertion force (ZIF) sockets.

VME-7807RC: This is a 6U single slot VMEbus module that provides hard and floppy storage options for embedded VMEbus processor series.
