  Functional Description

5466-1001 is a Digital Controller Power Supply Module developed by Woodward. When power supplies are in use, current sharing circuitry balances the load to reduce heat and improve power supply reliability. If one of the power supplies fails, this feature allows for the power supplies to be replaced while the control is still running. Power supply has four LEDs that indicate the health of the power supply (OK, Input Fault, Overtemperature, and Power Supply Fault).

  Features

The power requirements for each system are determined by the number and type of modules supplied. Size the input power source for a system with a single I/O chassis according to the rating of the MicroNet TMR main power supply to which the source is connected.

When using redundant supplies, do not size the supply mains for the sum of the MicroNet TMR main power supply ratings. When MicroNetTM supplies are installed in the same chassis, they are redundant.

Redundant supplies share the load equally, but each must be able to handle the full load if one of the units fails. It is not recommended to connect both MicroNet main power supplies of a redundant pair to a single source, as failure of that source would disable the system. Multiple chassis systems that use MicroNet TMR main power supplies may have power supplies of the same model in different chassis that are connected to the same source.

Woodward model 5466-1001 is a power supply module part of the MicroNet Digital Controller series. There are two types of controllers, MicroNet Simplex and MicroNet-Plus, this specific unit is a MicroNet-Plus controller. When the controller has been connected to the chassis it will operate on a two-slot power supply at one-hundred-ten volts of actuating current or one-hundred twenty-five volts of direct current. This unit is also a safety integrity level (SIL) approved MicroNet Plus unit.5466-409

As a power supply module, the 5466-1001 must have the power supply disconnected when being installed. When a new power supply unit is being installed the circuit board edges must be aligned in the card guides, when the motherboard and slot units make contact it means that the board has been connected properly. There are four LEDs on the front faceplate of this unit, an overtemperature LED, an input, and a power supply fault, as well as an OK LED. The LEDs will light up solid or flash when a fault has been detected.

  Power Supply Fault LED

When one of the supply’s four power converters fails, this red LED illuminates. If this LED is illuminated, look for a short circuit on any external devices that are connected to the control’s power supply. The supply will resume normal operation once the short circuit has been removed.

If no short circuits are found, reset the supply by turning off the power for one minute. If the power supply is still not working after restoring input power, make sure it is properly seated to the motherboard connector. If the supply is properly seated but not working, it should be replaced.

  Frequently Asked Questions

  What is 5466-1001?

It is Digital Controller Power Supply Module developed by Woodward.

How should the input power source be sized for a single I/O chassis in the system?

The input power source for a single I/O chassis should be sized according to the rating of the MicroNet TMR main power supply it is connected to.

What is the significance of redundant power supplies?

Redundant power supplies in a MicroNet system share the load equally between them. However, each power supply must be capable of providing full load in case one of the units becomes disabled.

Can I use the MicroNet TMR main power supply input ratings as a reference for sizing my system’s power source?

Yes, if the cabinet system nameplate does not indicate specific power requirements, you can use the input ratings of the MicroNet TMR main power supply as a reference for sizing the power source.

  Reviews For 5466-1001

The 5466-1001 model is another SIL-approved unit but operates on a different power input than it’s predecessor, if you need a model to replace this one please be sure that you are getting the same unit, another unit being used can cause potential errors.
